Qingyanliu:No.1 Taobao villiage

Qingyanliu attracts a lot of professional e-business people,but three years ago it was only an unknown small village in Yiwu. Qingyanliu,with 1,486 original local villagers,now has accommodated over 8,000 people. There are about 1,800 online shops here with a turnover of 800 million Yuan last year and an expected turnover of 2 billion Yuan this year,becoming the genuine No.1 Taobao village in China.
Busy scene in the evening
At 3 o’clock on August 25,we entered the village and saw so many boxes in the storehouses on the first floors of new-style villagers’ houses. These houses have 5 floors and have been built in rows.

An express worker says thatonline shop owners spend time receiving orders during the day,packing and delivering goods from the evening. At that time,Qingyanliu will become very busy . Because of the large amount,many shops will post the express paper by themselves,and the express company just comes here to pick up the packages. The busy scene will last after 9 o’clock.

We go down into one basement, just to find all kinds of commodities for daily use filled the 300-squaremeter room,and one person busy receiving orders online . The online shop owner Lin Xila is a woman from Wenzhou city,Zhejiang province . She says that her shop’s credit level is 5 crowns and will reach the level of golden crown in the middle of next month according to the present development trend.

In another basement covering 200 square meters,we see a hectic scene: over 20 people busy assorting commodities for each order,or packing the goods . LiuWengao, the secretary general of E - Commerce Associationin Jiangdong sub-district of Yiwu,says that here is the packing area for the online shop named No-frills Neighboring Store,and it will send around 1,000 parcels every day. This shop has already reached the golden crown. The owner is KongWeigang,a person from Henan province, who has made achievements in online business through Taobao selling daily goods . He started doing e-business several years ago after he worked as an internet administrator in a city in northeast China.

Liu Wengao says that there are many sellers like Lin Xila and Kong Weigang . They try their best to make their own fortune stories depending on Yiwu,the largest global commodities market.
The dramatic development of e-business in Qingyanliu
There are so many villages near Yiwu International Trade Mart. Why has Qingyanliu,a village far away from ITM,become the center for online business？ It is learned that there are two reasons. One isthat the rent is low because there are many vacant houses after the village was built in 2005. The other is that the transportation is very convenient because this village is near Jiangdong Freight Market,the largest freight market in Yiwu.

Liu Wengao told us that online shops began to emerge in Qingyanliu village in 2005 but only a few at that time. Since the latter half of 2008,more and more shop owners came here and there were over 120shops till
the end of April,2009.

The gathering of e-business in Qingyanliu attracted the attention of the village committee,and at the beginning of last year Jia Shaohua,the vice president of Yiwu Industrial and Commercial College suggested setting up Taobao City in Qingyanliu to receive the graduates who go on doing Taobao business. The two events contributed to setting up the preparatory committee of Yiwu international e-business city under the support of Jiangdong sub-district government. Many sellers come here after the news spreads.

However,things will not go so smoothly. With the fast growing of e
-business,the storehouses can’t satisfy the needs . Some major shop owners move out of the village. Intheir eyes,Qingyalliu is like the Jinggangshan,the base for further  development.
